Cardiac Psychology

The impact of a cardiac condition extends beyond the physical. The effects may be subtle and have a ripple effect on you and your relationships. Or the impact can be significant and impair various domains of your life. Not only is the person with the cardiac condition affected, but also those around them. Whether any of the following affect you, or someone you care about, it can be helpful to get support for your heart and mind.

  • Sudden cardiac event

  • Cardiac surgery or other cardiac treatments

  • Cardiac anxiety

  • Living with an ICD

  • Post-ICU delirium or trauma

  • Cardiac-related trauma including post-traumatic stress

  • Congenital cardiology

  • Cardiac inherited conditions

  • Needle, hospital or other medical phobias

  • Non-cardiac chest pain

Health Psychology

Health is not simply freedom from physical disease. As said by BKS Iyengar, “Health is a state of complete harmony of the body, mind, and spirit”. Modern life can be a kryptonite to such a state of harmony. It takes courage, and sometimes pure necessity, to take a step back to reflect on your choices and their impact on your wellbeing. Whether you are after a heart and mind WOF or seeking help with any of the following, a Health Psychologist could help.

  • Optimising wellbeing

  • Stress

  • Anxiety

  • Sleep problems

  • Health-related trauma

  • Adjustment to a health condition or medical treatment

  • Specific phobias
